KOH-I-NOOR L. & C. HARDTMUTH No. 43B

Koh-I-Noor Hardtmuthの太芯ホルダー、No. 43B。双頭式の芯ホルダーです。
eBayで手に入れたのですが、かなり古いものかと思われます(1930年より前か？)。
ちなみに"Hardtmuth"というのはKoh-I-Noorブランド創始者の姓。
Henry Petroski "The Pencil: A History of Design and Circumstance"(1989)の翻訳、
『鉛筆と人間』(晶文社　1993年)では「ハードムット」と表記されていますが、
これが英語圏の発音なのか東欧圏での発音なのかは不明です。

軸には材質は分かりませんが固めの木が使われています。
かなり年代が経っていると思われるので、厚めの塗装が剥がれやすくなっており、
撮影している間にも結構剥がれてしまいました。

中の構造は非常に簡単です。口金と軸が螺合されているのですが、
この口金を締めることで、口金内部が中のクラッチを押して、芯を固定するようになっています。
繰り出し量の調節には多少手間が掛かるかもしれませんが、5.8mm芯ということもあって、
そう頻繁に芯を繰り出す必要はないので実際の使用にはあまり問題がないと思われます。

今回のエントリには、珍しい双頭式のペンシルを紹介する意図もあったのですが、
「どっかでこれ、作ってくれないかな」というささやかな願望もあったりします。
構造も簡単で作りやすそうだし、2色の固形マーカーは個人的には「すぐれもの」だと思います。
芯径もダーマトグラフの規格に合わせれば、専用替え芯を作る必要はありませんし・・・どうでしょうか？

Hardtmuth's another model

It's very nice to find this blog, because I like clutch pencil very much.
Recently I bought KOH-I-NOOR's Hardtmuth whice has aluminium clip.

I've never seen the round Koh-I-Noor's metal barrel.
Is it available in Korea?

I bought it from USA through EBay.com
That model was very hard-to-find item,
so I can't assure you can get it...
But I found 3mm leads black model :)
